REVIEW

I read Forever, Interrupted on my Kindle, and it took me about a few weeks to finish. It’s more of a slow burn than a pure page-turner. While the story moves forward steadily, the novel lingers on the characters’ emotions and decisions, sometimes dragging a bit.

Several passages really stood out to me, particularly those exploring grief, aging, and the lessons life teaches us at any stage. The one quote that stuck with me was a beautiful reflection on how love and loss can coexist. Other takeaways included observations on growing older and the surprising clarity that sometimes comes from vulnerability. Overall, these reflections on learning and personal growth added depth to the narrative, even when the characters themselves felt stuck or misguided.

The story does drag at points, and the characters can be frustrating—they seem mired in indecision and missteps for longer than I would have liked. The suspense centers around a single piece of paper, which is both intriguing and, at times, exasperating to wait on. That said, the ending is satisfying, even if I wish it had arrived a little sooner.

BCR RECOMMENDATION

Forever, Interrupted is rich with discussion potential, making it a perfect choice for a book club. The themes of grief, love, and self-discovery provide plenty of material for thoughtful conversation. If you’re looking for a story that combines emotional depth with life lessons, this book will spark dialogue—just be prepared for the slower moments along the way. I kind of wish I had read it alongside my own book club; it would have been fascinating to hear everyone’s take on Elsie’s journey and the wisdom threaded throughout the story.
