Do you love to read? Have you thought about joining a book club — or even starting one of your own? Perhaps you already belong to a club and are seeking fresh ideas. Perhaps you follow popular book picks from clubs like Read with Jenna, Reese’s Book Club, or Oprah’s Book Club and want to stay up-to-date with their selections.
If any of that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
BookClubReview was founded by a lifelong reader and devoted book club enthusiast. She has spent more than a decade around book club tables, with over 100 meetings under her belt. This site is dedicated to analyzing book club trends and compiling practical, encouraging resources for all types of clubs.
Because here’s the truth: book clubs are wonderfully diverse. And they are rarely simple.

Our experience spans multiple clubs in different formats, participation levels, and membership sizes. At one point, our chief book club reviewer participated in three book clubs at the same time — each with its own personality and rhythm.
She is a co-founding member of a small, local book club that met for over 10 years. Like many long-running groups, it changed as members moved and life shifted. After more than 100 gatherings, the club is now on an indefinite hiatus.
That pause isn’t a failure — it’s part of the natural life cycle of a book club. Not every group is meant to last forever, and recognizing when to pivot or step back is just as important as knowing how to sustain momentum. Longevity matters, but so does ending (or pausing) well.
These experiences and analyses mean we’ve seen what works. We’ve seen what doesn’t. More importantly, we’ve lived it.
Here at BookClubReview, we:
- Take a thoughtful look at how and why book clubs last — or languish.
- Share reading suggestions suited for discussion – book reviews are posted every Thursday.
- Offer practical book club tips for founders, leaders, and members.
- Discuss why not all book clubs (or book club members) are the same.
- Explore how different personalities, formats, and goals can strengthen — rather than strain — a group.
Whether you’re curious about joining your first club, hoping to revitalize an existing one, following major book club trends, or leading a group yourself, our goal is to provide ideas and resources you can actually use.
We believe book clubs are about more than just books. They are about conversation, connection, and consistency. They require intention — but the reward is a community of readers who grow together over time.
We hope the ideas and resources shared here inspire you, equip you, and most of all, encourage you to keep reading — together.
